Wisteria
Traditional Southern specialties take an ambitious step forward at Chef Jason Hill’s Inman Park eatery. Housed in a century-old building, Wisteria is lacking in neither atmosphere nor amenity; dim lighting, exposed brick, and reclaimed wood are as warm and welcoming as the wait staff. Along with a mouthwatering menu and divine wine list, enjoying a leisurely meal here is easy.
Start with a bottle of wine, of which Wisteria has plenty…and then some. Choose a cru you know and love – a few of your favorites have surely found their way here – or take full advantage of their award-winning wine list and try a new-to-you varietal. Don’t worry if you’re not one for wine – the booze and brews won’t let you down.
Neither will the menu. Stacked with the freshest seasonal ingredients, many of them locally sourced, making a selection isn’t exactly simple. The appetizer list is enticing enough, never mind the meals. Southern-inspired specialties range from the most classic to the most creative. From seafood to steak, veal to veggies, there is a plate to please even the most discerning palate. And the sides? Oh, the sides…
Highlights
Gulf Oysters Flash Fried
Served atop a grilled baguette with Sherry cream sauce, this starter is sure to satisfy.
Pork Tenderloin Molasses Rubbed
The other white meat makes a mean Southern statement when it’s rubbed with molasses and served with a brown sugar sweet potato soufflé and an onion, apple and walnut relish. Yeah, our thoughts exactly…
All-Natural Half Chicken Iron Skillet Fried
Fried chicken is a Southern staple. At Wisteria it’s a not-to-be-missed signature dish. Served with bacon braised collard greens, sweet corn pudding, and a mushroom-herb broth, this may not be your grandma’s fried chicken – but it’s certainly just as good. No offense, grandma…
