Athens Pizza
Think pizza diner, not pizza place. Started by Greek immigrants 40 years ago, the Papadopoulos family moved to the US in 1963 with 2 kids. John Papadopoulos started working at a pizzeria, eventually deciding he wanted to open his own, & has most definitely lived out that dream. Originally only selling pizza, grinders, salads & euros, the menu has expanded over the years, now offering lasagna, spaghetti & baked spaghetti, lamb shank, chicken & potatoes & other authentic Greek and Italian dishes. When you walk into this Decatur spot, you’ll feel like you’re eating at home. Customers are treated like family, & the colorful, warm & homey environment has proved to be well-liked, with some guests having been customers since the restaurant opened.
