O-ku
For rooftop views and an awesome happy hour
For awesome patio rooftop vibes, melt-in-your mouth flavors, and chic and Asian inspired cocktails, O-ku in West Midtown is unmatched. O-ku sources fresh fish from the best fish markets in Hawaii and Tokyo, and they also have one of the best happy hour specials in town.
Umi
For an upscale Buckhead experience that’s also a celebrity favorite
Umi s both a celebrity hot spot and one of the best spots for sushi in all around Atlanta. For a mindblowing dish, try the green tea souffle. It’s perfect for matcha lovers. Their omakase options are also excellent–you will leave stuffed!
Nakato
For a legendary restaurant that’s stood the test of time
The restaurant business is one of the toughest ones to be in, with the majority of new restaurants closing within a year. But it’s due to their commitment to excellence, service and traditional Japanese recipes that Nakato has lasted for an incredible 50 years. At Nakato, you can have so many dining experiences. Check our their private Tatami room for special occasions, or enjoy dinner and a show in their hibachi room, or sidle on up to the sushi bar and watch the masters at work. Whatever you do, order the green tea creme brulee if it’s on the menu!
Eight Sushi
For a modern take on sushi in the heart of West Midtown
West Midtown folks really are blessed with some of the finest restaurants in town, and Eight Sushi is up there in terms of sushi and just overall excellence. Order the tuna crisp appetizer, topped with truffle oil, which smells and tastes heavenly with the umami popping off with every bite. They’re a chic date night spot, with a hip and trendy ambiance, and they’ve got a patio too if you’re more comfortable dining al fresco at this time.
Nova Sushi
For unpretentious dining and fabulously fresh fish
This Buckhead spot’s sushi is always as fresh as it is delicious, served in an unpretentious atmosphere. Pro-tip: their lunch specials are also a great bang for your buck. Something on their menu that’s super fun? The Sushi Big Mac, with spicy tuna, eel, avocado and sushi rice, served with eel sauce and spicy mayo. It’s delicious! Nova Sushi is also available for delivery!
Bishoku
For amazing customer service and an intimate atmosphere
For a fabulous and quiet meal at a sushi spot with neighborhood and family-owned vibes, Bishoku is just the ticket. The service is always on point, and the chefs are always cooking up something special you’re not going to be able to resist trying. They’ll often bring you a complimentary dessert of appetizer, making every trip to Bishoku special.
Mujo
For a splurge and edomae style omakase
The Mujo experience is certainly a splurge at $205 per person. However, the Executive Chef, J. Trent Harris, has some serious cooking chops–he was sous chef at two Michelin star Sushi Ginza Onodera in Tokyo and New York under master sushi chef Masaki Saito. Their tasting menu changes daily with fish flown directly from Japan and consists of small plates and seasonal nigiri. This omakase only spot is a welcome addition to West Midtown and certainly worth a try for a special occasion or celebration.
Budi’s Sushi
For sushi with theatrical flair and authentic Indonesian food, to boot
Budi’s Sushi is a great, neighborhood type of sushi spot in Downtown where the service is always great. The best thing to do is to pull up and ask for the chef’s special. However, it’s their jaw-dropping sushi pyramid that’s their claim to fame. Don’t overlook the rest of the menu, either–they have tons of fantastic Indonesian specials that are full of flavor.
Revolving Sushi
For a unique sushi experience
For a conveyor belt sushi experience, head to Revolving Sushi in Alpharetta! It’s oodles of fun. Simply pluck whichever dish you’d like from the conveyor belt and enjoy!
Sushi Hayakawa
For the absolute best in class omakase experience
Perfect for a special date night or anniversary, James Beard nominated Sushi Hayakawa is an experience you’ll never forget. Chef Hayakawa renovated his restaurant a few years ago to make the tables bigger, the capacity smaller, and the ambiance even more cozy and intimate, doing the complete opposite of what restaurants usually do to maximize profits. For toro that melts in your mouth and the perfect sake pairings, try the omakase experience.
Tomo
For a tailored to you omakase experience
Tomo is another Atlanta sushi spot serving sushi that’s a cut above the rest, and was listed as one of the best meals our Executive Producer, Scott, had in all of 2019. Something super special Tomo does in at least non COVID-19 times is their famous “Tuna Tuesday,” in which hef Tomo breaks down an entire Bluefin Tuna, flown in fresh from the famous Tsujiki market, right before your eyes and serves you some some of the most unique and rare tuna dishes you’ve ever had. And their omakase experience can be tailored to fit every budget. Make reservations!
