What The Masked Singer Winner Kandi Burruss’ Has Been Doing At Home
MAJOR CONGRATS 👏 are in order for Atlanta businesswoman, singer, songwriter, restaurant owner, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss who just won The Masked Singer! We recently had the opportunity to catch up on what she’s been doing while she’s been at home during this time. Here are some highlights from her interview!
1. Ordering takeout from Umi to celebrate her daughter’s high school graduation
“My daughter’s favorite is Umi,” says Burruss. Getting pickup to celebrate her daughter, Riley Burruss’, graduation was Kandi’s first venture out of the house to celebrate this special occasion before Riley moves to New York City to attend NYU in the fall!
2. Pivoting Old Lady Gang to Delivery
Did you know Kandi has a soul food restaurant called Old Lady Gang? Cooking in in Kandi’s blood, and butter is in pretty much every dish she makes. “My whole family would get together to eat dinner together every Sunday,” said Burruss. “Growing up, it was every single Sunday. If I didn’t show up, it was a problem!” After a lot of friends and family suggested her family open a restaurant, Kandi and her husband, Todd, finally took the plunge and did so. At this time, the restaurant is closed for dine-in. “We decided we’re not opening up yet, we wanted to be safe… and wait for the suggestions of our Mayor,” said Burruss. However, Old Lady Gang is available on DoorDash, UberEats, and more!
3. Cooking, A Lot. Everything, in Fact!
“I’ve been doing most of the cooking lately,” says Kandi Burruss. “To be honest with you, I’ve been going crazy. Yesterday I made meatloaf, sweet potato cheese, broccoli and cheese, casserole with chicken in it…” And this was all for ONE meal!
4. Dreaming About the Tiramisu at Campagnolo
While Old Lady Gang is her favorite restaurant of course, she also gave major props to Midtown spot Campagnolo. “They have THE BEST tiramisu that I’ve ever had in my entire life, and their lasagna is mouthwatering,” said Kandi.
5. Staying Home and Trying not to go stir-crazy!
At the time of our interview, Kandi had been doing a really great job of staying home: “We have not even been out of our neighborhood for the entire 6 weeks. We’ve been ordering our groceries online, getting our deliveries, cleaning everything off. We’ve been trying to stick to it!” said Kandi. We hope you and Todd are still hanging in there!
