The Best Gas Station Food in Georgia
Between our railway oriented history and our place in the country’s culture, Atlanta has always been an American crossroads. Two major highways – I-75 and I-85 – literally combine into one behemoth highway right in the middle of midtown. Whether or not you think Atlanta is “full” won’t change the fact that lots of folks will be coming through our City and state – either to stick around or on their way to somewhere else. With all of that in mind, we’re highlighting the State’s best places to get a bite while you’re gassing up to go wherever it is you need to go.

Auto Spa Bistro in Atlanta, GA
348 14th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30318
When it comes to gas stations where you can have a good meal (and a little more), there may be no place more emblematic of ATL than the Auto Spa Bistro. First of all, Shaq is a board member and they’ve had celebrities like Sam Jackson, T.I., Kevin Hart, Rick Ross and other bold faced ATL names stop by. With a focus on cocktails, hookah and restaurant dining, you can get a Pina Colada and a pan seared chicken while pulling on a hookah – all while your car gets hand washed, inside and out. The menu has some great breakfast and brunch options, too, so those Saturday mornings can be a little extra in all the right ways.

It’s impossible to miss hearing about Buccees when you’re on a road trip through GA – their iconic, hilarious billboards remind you every few miles or so how far you are from the nearest location. But Buccees is more than a rest stop – there’s a reason it’s as iconic in Texas as Chick Fil A has become throughout Atlanta. They have delicious Texas style BBQ and Tex Mex dishes, including brisket, tacos, fajitas and more, along with fudge, nuts and other confections made out of their HQ in Texas. The next time you’re heading North towards Calhoun or South towards Warner Robbins, you’ve gotta build in a stop at Buccees.

When it comes to Felicia’s there’s one BIG reason people keep coming back – the BISCUITS. In fact, the fancy folks at Bon Appetite wrote about their biscuits just a few years back, and they’re still making them just as fluffy and delicious as ever. If you’re driving by Monroe in the morning, make sure you stop at Felicia’s for an authentic, delicious Southern style breakfast.

Marietta Donuts – Shell Station in Marietta, GA
1282 Johnson Ferry Rd #109, Marietta, GA 30068
Marietta Donuts has quickly set itself up as an institution in the metro ATL neighborhood, thanks to their consistently fluffy and delicious yeast donuts decorated in ways that make your kid or the kid inside you drool with anticipation. Our favorite at Marietta Donuts? The kolaches! These Texan treats brought over by Polish immigrants use smoked Texas style sausage wrapped, pig in a blanket style, in a sweet and savory dough. And Marietta Donuts may have the best in the A.

Mount Paran Country Store in Buckhead, GA
4480 Northside Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30327
When it comes to roadside, gas station food, Mount Paran Country Store is as iconic as you can get. In operation for nearly a century, the humble shop, which sits in the middle of busy Buckhead, only has two pumps, but loads of charm. Folks love their breakfast biscuits and other snacks, but we think the burger is worthy of some love. The burger is relatively small but well made bite with even distribution of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and patty.
NFA Burger – Chevron Station in Dunwoody, GA
5465 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338
Did you know Atlanta’s best burger is in a Shell Station? It’s undeniable – NFA Buger is the best burger in Atlanta hands down. Their Smashburger style approach and focus on the best ingredients for that one of a kind texture is present in every bite. They also make great dogs that you can top and dress to your heart’s content with ingredients like Breadwinner Cafe’s turkey chili, bacon, jalapeños, mustard and more.

Multiple Locations
Stuckey’s is simply iconic. If you grew up in the Metro Atlanta area between 1960 and today, you will surely have seen a Stuckey’s or a Stuckey’s sign somewhere along your road trip. Over the years they have focused less on their gas and convenience shops and more on making the pecan confections everyone loves – including the iconic Pecan Log Roll. Stuckey’s are still open in a few select locations throughout Georgia where you can still find their sweet treats while filling up at the pump.

This may be one of the most ubiquitous gas station eats around Atlanta, but we’re not complaining – Taqueria Taquito Express serves more than solid tacos, tortas, burritos, nachos and more, along with maybe the best convenient breakfast item in all of Atlanta – their breakfast burrito! Choose ingredients like chorizo, potato, ham and beans to go with your egg for a perfect AM protein punch. Also available as a breakfast taco.

TDT BBQ – Shell Station in Mableton
4360 Floyd Rd SW, Mableton, GA
There’s something about BBQ served at a gas station that makes it taste better. We can’t explain it, but TDT BBQ keeps the tradition going. They’ve got excellent Ribs, smoked chicken, pulled pork, smoked sausage, salmon and more. We may like their sandwiches as much or more than any other BBQ place in Atlanta – the rib sandwich in particular was worth telling friends about.
