Steak Shapiro’s Top Cajun Restaurants
While we’re never going to be confused with New Orleans, we do have quite a few restaurants doing us proud in the cajun/creole/New Orleans food front and we keep getting better at it. Take a look at these restaurants serving up the good Louisiana stuff around Atlanta if you find yourself in need of a great po boy fix. I present to you my pick for some of Atlanta’s top cajun restaurants in alphabetical order.
1. Bon Ton Atlanta
674 Myrtle St NE, Atlanta, GA 30308
This is a great spot in Midtown for a date night with your lady. They do cajun food with a Vietnamese spin so aside from crawfish boils and po boys you can also find catfish banh mis and Vietnamese meatball rice bowls.
2. Henry’s Louisiana Grill
4835 N. Main Street Acworth, GA 30101
This rocking spot in Acworth has gotten a lot of well-deserved attention from national television shows like Food Network’s “Ginormous Food.” Run don’t walk to this OTP gem!
3. Lagarde
Chamblee folks have been raving about this spot, and once you taste what Chef Jame has been throwing down in the kitchen you’ll easily understand why. The patio is one of the most talked about, and the chargrilled oysters will leave even New Orleans natives happy.
4. Louisiana Bistreaux
Multiple Locations
If you want seafood stacked ontop of seafood stuffed inside of seafood Louisiana Bistreaux is your place. They have gut-busting delicacies like a dish they call the “crawtator grouper,” which is a grouper crusted with Zapp’s crawtator chips in a cajun crawfish cream sauce and served with spinach and jalapeño gouda grits. The generous portions are well-worth the money, you will not leave hungry.
5. Po Boy Shop
1369 Clairmont Road Decatur, GA 30033
The sandwiches they are whipping up in the kitchen day after day are so killer. My personal favorite is the debris po boy with gravy soaked roast beef. You can also catch your favorite teams in their newly added downstairs sports bar.
6. Yay Beignet
660 Irwin St NE, Atlanta, GA 30312
It’s very hard to find a good beignet outside of New Orleans but I am proud to report that new Black-owned haunt Yay Beignet right off the Beltline is delivering the goods. Order 3 or a dozen and you will leave a very happy customer indeed.
