Restaurants We Wish We Could Try Again for the First Time
Most people in Atlanta have a favorite or go-to restaurant, and if they can’t pick just one, they at least have a list of three at the ready. But one thing that’s for sure is just about everyone has one meal, one restaurant, one experience that stands out above the rest. We asked the team if they could try any restaurant again for the first time, what would it be? See which restaurants and meals we’ve been dreaming about, wishing we could relive just one more time, for the first time, below.
La Grotta
2637 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30305
Starting off with a strong choice, Jon Teplow, one of the founders and VP of Marketing for Atlanta Eats said that La Grotta offers “the trifecta of a great restaurant” which of course would include great food, impeccable service and a lovely ambiance. The dish that made this experience so special for Jon was the Petto di Pollo alla Parmiggiana con Marinara di Nonna. That would be Italian for an incredible chicken parm tossed with Nonna’s tomato sauce, mozzarella, and arugula pesto with cappellini in pesto cream. Bon appetit!
Breakfast at Barney’s
349 Decatur St. SE Unit A1, Atlanta, GA 30312
Rachel Hardy, one of our talented video editors, confidently said that the 24 Karat Gold Pancakes from Breakfast at Barney’s is a dish she wishes she could try again for the first time, and many Atlantans could likely agree. She said the overall vibe of this spot plus the incredible food makes Breakfast at Barney’s a winner. And “the 24k Gold Pancakes just elevates it even more.”
Hugo’s Oyster Bar
10360 Alpharetta St, Roswell, GA 30075
Hugo’s Oyster Bar in Roswell is one of those restaurants that just never disappoints, and Kate Sullivan, another one of the talented video editors on our team, has been dreaming about the meal she had there ever since she left. She ordered fully based on staff recommendations and was not disappointed in the slightest. Here is the meal that changed her life for the better: “I started with the blue crab fingers as an appetizer, had the Hugo Mule (Moscow mule) which was extra gingery, crisp, and perfect. I also had one of their specialty pink cocktails. I had the char grilled oysters with the most perfect seasoning on them (just garlic, parmesan, and olive oil), and I finished the meal with a couple beignets for dessert.” Do as Kate says, and the Hugo’s staff, and you’ll be dreaming about this spot, too.
Yeppa & Co.
306 Buckhead Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30305
Yeppa has become a household name when it comes to the Buckhead dining scene over the last couple of years, and Becca Mamane, who does Digital Marketing, remembers the meal she had there nearly two years ago like it was just yesterday. “I actually went with a handful of coworkers a couple weeks after they opened and we basically got one of everything. A few salads and apps, and a couple different pizzas and pastas.” She said the ambiance was very lively, the servers were kind and attentive and the food was obviously delicious. Yeppa is the kind of spot you can go to for a work lunch, or go get espresso martinis with the girls on a Saturday evening and it will always bring the vibe and the flavors.
Little Bear
71 Georgia Ave SE Unit A, Atlanta, GA 30312
Little Bear is a cozy Summerhill restaurant that offers an ever-changing New American inspired menu, along with a four-course individual prix fixe option. Hannah Martz, our Sales Program Manager, loved her experience here, but next time she “would like to go rogue and do my own thing since there was so much on the menu I wanted to try.” You can always expect some savory and sweet menu options along with carefully curated cocktails, wine and beer!
Gigi’s Italian
1660 McLendon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307
Kyle Korelishn, the guy that knows everything going at Atlanta Eats at any given time, also known as the President of the company, loves a good Italian meal. Gigi’s in Candler park is a cozy little gem of a restaurant that “was just an awesome neighborhood spot that had great service.” The dish he would go back for is the Mafaldine, a pasta dish made with long, flat ribbon shaped pasta with curled edges (from Naples), served in a pork and lamb ragu and topped with fresh feta and mint.
OK Cafe
1284 W Paces Ferry Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30327
OK Cafe is a favorite across the board in Atlanta and our Controller, Alex Alawabdy, says it is the “old school vibes and consistent quality,” that make this spot so special for her. If you’ve been to OK Cafe you, you understand exactly where she’s coming from. They have so many wonderful, and delicious menu items that they’re serving up in a cozy atmosphere and that is a recipe for success. Next time you dine here, Alex speaks very highly of their Country Fried Steak.
