Polynesian Vibes and Specialty Cocktails – Mara Talks Tiki Bars on the Bert Show
They’re a trend all over Atlanta and around the country – the tiki bar is back. Mara Davis joined the Bert Show recently to talk about these umbrella drink watering holes, including places where you can find delicious Pacific inspired dishes to go with your drink.
“It’s winter time. So I wanted to bring this up. For some strange reason, tiki bars are all the rage…for some reason, there’s been a crazy amount of tiki bars and Hawaiian influenced restaurant bars that have been coming on the scene…let’s get started with Trader Vic’s. Of course, you know this is the classic. It’s in the downtown Hilton. If you want a real feel of a Polynesian vibe…this is definitely a slice out of the 1970’s.”
“The SOS tiki bar is really really fun. They do a great drink called the Pain Killa which is white rum, aged rum, coconut cream, orange, pineapple and tiki bitters – and it’s $6 bucks so it’s a pretty good deal.”
