This charming, family-friendly suburb has a dining scene that’s quickly heating up. From affordable, delicious beloved diners to elegant, creative farm-to-table fare that’s on par with big city dining, you can have nearly any kind of cuisine you want in Marietta. Here’s a list of our must-trys.
1. Birria El Gordo
350 Pat Mell Rd SE, Marietta, GA 30060
Have you tried birria yet? This meat stew, traditionally prepared with goat, originates from the Jalisco region of Mexico and has been a dish for centuries. However, it’s become recently popular all over the United States and is quickly becoming found on menus at every Mexican joint in town with tons of modern iterations, including ones with ramen noodles! For what we think is the BEST birria in town, you’ll have to head to Marietta / Smyrna and try Birria El Gordo’s quesabirria. The lines can get totally ridiculous and they do often sell out, but it’s all worth it!
2. Catfish Hox
2595 Sandy Plains Rd Suite 101, Marietta, GA 30066
If you think you’re not a fish lover, let Catfish Hox change your mind. This veteran-owned business is serving up Southern and cajun goodness with an emphasis on catfish served every which way. Get yourself a fix of scratch made fried green tomatoes, catfish po boys, red beans and rice, and catfish tacos.
3. Jerusalem Bakery & Market
1175 Franklin Rd, Marietta, GA 30067
This family-owned biz is a go-to for Marietta area folks for savory shawarma and flavorful baba ganoush. It’s affordable and fresh, with house-made pita bread and Middle Eastern treats like baklava and Turkish delight. Roll through the store cafeteria style and try a little bit of everything. The stellar service also sets this place apart from the rest!
4. Hamp & Harry’s
168 Roswell St NE, Marietta, GA 30060
This Marietta Square spot is really special. You can tell they really take pride in everything they do here from the presentation for their dishes to the ingredients they lovingly source from local purveyors. The interiors are intimate and cozy yet casual, great for a date night or a weekday dinner made special. Start your meal with an order from their raw oyster bar, and be sure to order a beautifully crafted cocktail as well. They aren’t cutting corners here, and they also now have brunch and tiki Tuesdays!
5. Lucky’s Burger & Brew
6. Mac’s Chophouse
19 N Park Square, Marietta, GA 30060
Every town needs a really excellent steakhouse, and for Marietta, it’s Mac’s Chophouse. From impeccably cooked steaks to mouthwatering sides to excellent service, there’s so much to love. The crab cakes are also extra meaty here, and the pimento cheese fritters are a excellent Southern touch.
7. Marietta Diner
8. Marietta Square Market
Have we reached peak food hall yet? We’re not sure, but you have to admit, it’s so fun to be able to bop around from stall to stall and they’re excellent when you’re dining with a group with diverse palettes. We love Lucky’s Burgers & Brews for their burgers (plus, on Fridays kid’s meals are 6 bucks!) as well D’Cuban Cafe for Cuban favorites like their ropa vieja and Cuban sandwiches.
9. The Red Eyed Mule
430 South Marietta Pkwy SE, Marietta, GA 30060
This unfussy, cozy diner-esque spot is perfect for a cheap eat. Have yourself an excellent and affordable back to the basics breakfast of biscuits, chicken and waffles, or hash browns. There is often a breakfast rush, but the line moves fast!
10. Spring
36 Mill St, Marietta, GA 30060
Spring is a much heralded, elegant spot perfect for date night that gathers praise and accolades from food critics all over town and the country. The menu focuses on seasonal ingredients and sustainable foods, sourced from local farmers.
11. Stockyard Burgers & Brews
26 Mill St, Marietta, GA 30060
Stockyard Burgers & Brews is a meat lover’s paradise. With ribs, steak, burgers, and house-made sides, come hungry! They also have something called a “fry board” which is truly innovation at its finest, with homemade frites, sweet potato tos, parmesan truffle fries, and fried onion straws.
12. The Third Door
131 Church St, Marietta, GA 30060
The Third Door may be the coolest bar in all of the metro Atlanta. Husband and wife duo Ted and Lara Ferreira converted an old gas station into a 1920s style Prohibition bar. Enjoy live music on the weekends and fabulous cocktails always. One thing to note is that they do not generally serve food at the Third Door, so this is better for pre-dinner or post-dinner drinks. However, it’s just a few blocks off the historic Marietta square, so it’s an easy stop to make!
13. Three Roses Tavern
105 N Park Square Marietta, GA 30060
Three Roses Tavern is a newer addition to Marietta. Located right in Marietta Square, it’s great for good grub, great cocktails, and a sizable selection of beer and wine. You can catch your favorite sports team on any of the screens inside. Expect comforting yet delicious gastropub eats. They make a damn good fish and chips!
