1. Birria El Gordo

350 Pat Mell Rd SE, Marietta, GA 30060

Have you tried birria yet? This meat stew, traditionally prepared with goat, originates from the Jalisco region of Mexico and has been a beloved dish for centuries. However, it’s become recently popular all over the United States and is quickly becoming found on menus at every Mexican joint in town with tons of modern iterations, including ones with ramen noodles! For what we think is the BEST birria in town, you’ll have to head to Marietta / Smyrna and try Birria El Gordo’s quesabirria. The lines can get totally ridiculous and they do often sell out, but it’s all worth it, so go early!

12. The Third Door

131 Church St, Marietta, GA 30060

The Third Door may be the coolest bar in all of the metro Atlanta. Husband and wife duo Ted and Lara Ferreira converted an old gas station into a 1920s style Prohibition bar. Enjoy live music on the weekends and fabulous cocktails always. One thing to note is that they do not generally serve food at the Third Door, so this is better for pre-dinner or post-dinner drinks. However, it’s just a few blocks off the historic Marietta square, so it’s an easy stop to make!
