Where to Find the Best Matcha Around Atlanta

Matcha, a type of green tea that originally comes in a powdered form, is in our humble opinion, one of the tastier ways to consume your caffeine. Matcha has a silkier, richer, “umami” taste than your other green tea varieties. It’s fantastic as a latte, in desserts, in ice cream, and much more! Here are some of our favorite places around Atlanta for creamy, dreamy, matcha.

This Smyrna coffee shop is putting the flavor and fun in coffee and tea, with all sorts of fun flavors from a churro latte to a charcoal coconut coffee. Their matcha latte is a delightful take that’s a little on the sweeter side. It tastes particularly wonderful if you add a bit of pistachio creme on top.

Dancing Goats Coffee Bar has long been an Atlanta go-to for good coffee, and they’ve created an excellent matcha latte. They have a strawberry mint matcha version in the summer that’s an especially big hit, though the strawberry flavor is especially strong.

Nestled in the Jusgo Supermarket court, you can find Fujiissa, a perfect spot for a matcha break while you shop for all your Chinese grocery goodies. They have a vibrant green matcha softserve, assorted matcha lattes, and a “Mont Blanc” soft serve they are most famous for, which is a sweet chestnut topping that looks sort of like spaghetti noodles, inspired by the Mont Blanc dessert from French patisserie.

For matcha lovers in Atlanta, this is the holy grail. There’s matcha soft serve, lattes, frappes, and more! Matcha Cafe Maiko uses ceremonial grade — the highest grade — of matcha from Kyoto, Japan. Aside from matcha, you can sometimes find other fun Asian flavors like ube and brown sugar.  This national chain has a Duluth and Buford Highway storefront.

7. Momo Cafe

 95 8th St NW, Ste 100, Atlanta, GA 30309

This Midtown cafe is SUCH a gem for matcha and dessert lovers. You can enjoy a lovely matcha soft serve, matcha latte, or various other matcha flavored desserts. The iced strawberry matcha latte and matcha lemonade are especially delightful.

8. Rebel Teahouse

225 E Ponce de Leon Ave Suite 110, Decatur, GA 30030

Head to beautiful Decatur to find a scrumptious matcha bubble tea. Want to go the full nine yards? Top yours with a bruleed cheese foam! It may sound strange, but the slight savoriness of the cheese foam perfectly compliments the sweetness of milk tea.

9. Postern Coffee

This new Buford Highway coffee shop celebrates coffee and Asian American flavors. You’ll be able to find interesting flavors like a coconut ube latte, a “Korean Palmer” with barley tea and lemonade, and pandan vanilla syrup. Their matcha latte, which comes hot or iced, uses ceremonial grade matcha, which is the highest grade possible.

10. Unbelibubble

Multiple Locations

You can get a classic matcha latte or try the mango matcha, golden matcha, strawberry matcha, or rainbow matcha. I’m particularly partial to their “golden matcha,” which is topped with a honeycomb candy. All of their drinks come with a lactose free milk.

11. Wave3 Coffee and Chocolate – temporarily closed

3145 Peachtree Rd Suite 121, Atlanta, GA 30305

One of Atlanta’s most superb matcha spots is unfortunately temporarily closed–but keep this place on your radar, because their matcha is simply marvelous. They have lots of house made syrups you can add to your matcha latte, from rose vanilla to lavender to blueberry.
