Taquería La Oaxaqueña serving up some of the most authentic Mexican food you will find this side of the border. In house, handmade tortillas and a giant salsa bar make this hidden gem impossible to pass up.
Cow cheeks. Now, you might think that doesn’t sound good, but it’s one of the most tender cuts of meat out there. Taqueria La Oaxaquena serves it in a taco, and that’s not all — if you like goat meat, you can get that in a taco, too.
Top of the heap when it comes to orders is huarache, a mound of beans, lettuce, sour cream and meat, all on top of a bed of crunchy fried corn meal.
If you’re down in Jonesboro, you should also check out The Road to Tara inside the Jonesboro Depot Welcome Center. With the movie Gone With The Wind playing on a loop, this is the largest permanent exhibit to Margaret Mitchell’s most famous work. Costumes and other movie memorabilia are on display — it’s like taking a step back in time to Tara at the height of the Civil War.
