Salute to Burgers: Yeah! Burger

Shaun Doty, chef and owner of Yeah! Burger, has taken this all-American classic to a whole new level.  They cook each burger to order from pasture-raised bison, White Oak Pastures grass-fed beef, all-natural Pennsylvania turkey, and naturally raised chicken breast, all organic, free of antibiotics and growth hormones.

The meat is not the only ingredient that is chosen with care.  Locally grown hydroponic lettuce, nitrate-free bacon, and a variety of organic cheeses, plus premium housemade toppings like bacon jam and crushed avocado are a la carte, so diners can create their own perfect burger experience.  Add a couple of interesting sauces like Sriracha mayo

A longtime advocate of gluten-free choices, Doty serves his juicy burgers on artisan white, whole wheat or gluten-free buns made by, you guessed it, H & F Bread Co.  Or skip the bun altogether.  Or skip the burger altogether and try a Coleman Natural organic beef hot dog….pretty tasty with the crunchy, herby coleslaw.

Sure, the fries are still fried, but they offer gluten-free versions of both hand-cut and sweet potato fries.  That makes ’em OK, right?  And the shakes and floats feature local, organic High Road Craft ice cream flavors.

Counter service is casual and efficient, but bar service is much more fun and interactive.  They have a nice selection of spirits, cocktails, beer, and a few wines by the glass served by a young, cool staff.

Both Yeah! Burger locations, Howell Mill and Virginia Highlands have a retro modern decor painted lively shades of orange and blue.  Definitely not your typical burger joint, and neither are the prices.  But the food is all natural….their motto is “keeping the food real”.  It feels wholesome, and it tastes wholesome too.
