Gluten Free Burger Buns

Sinking your teeth into a juicy burger on a bun can be a little tricky when you are on a gluten-free diet. Most places with burgers, don’t offer gluten-free buns as part of the menu. In my opinion, eating a burger with a knife and fork just isn’t the same experience and it definitely isn’t as filling. Here in the foodie town of Atlanta there are a number of restaurants sensitive to the dilemma and their desire to accommodate the gluten-free community has led them to offer gluten-free buns.
Listed below are some restaurants in and around Metro Atlanta with gluten-free buns:

Cheeseburger in Paradise – offers gluten-free buns from French Meadow Bakery for their burgers. They also have a gluten-free menu to help with ordering.

Chef G’s Burger Bar at The Four Seasons – offers specialty burgers on Udi’s Gluten Free buns. The burger selection changes each week and they will prepare French fries to order that are free of cross contact. Reservations are required, as there are only so many seats available because you eat in the kitchen!

Dakota Blue – the owner of this restaurant follows a gluten-free diet, so it makes sense that they offer gluten-free buns from Pure Knead for its burgers.

Farm Burger – offers their farm-fresh beef burgers on Pure Knead’s gluten-free buns. They also offer salads, snack and daily specials that are gluten free. When I was last there I got a burger topped with a fried egg, smoked paprika mayo and lettuce and the snack special which was roasted root veggies and mustard greens.

South City Kitchen – their Vinings locations offer Pure Knead’s gluten-free buns for their burgers/sandwiches. South City Kitchen also has a separate gluten-free menu full of Southern-inspired options.

Sprig Restaurant – offers Pure Knead’s gluten-free buns for their burgers and sandwiches. Their menu denotes items that are gluten free with a “GF”

The Counter in Roswell – offers burgers on Udi’s Gluten Free buns and they also offer a gluten-free menu full of other options. Guests can also nosh of gluten-free French fries and sweet potato fries that are prepared in a dedicated fryer.

The Wrecking Bar Brewpub – Terry Koval (formerly of Farm Burger) is the chef at this restaurant, so naturally they offer Pure Knead’s gluten-free buns for their grass-fed beef burger. I have yet to get over there, but Terry told me they have many gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan specials Tuesday nights.

Turner Field’s Gluten-Free Concession Stand – offers burgers on gluten-free buns. Last season they were using American Gra-Frutti’s buns, but I am not sure if that is the same brand they will be offering this year. Their burgers are massive and much better than what you can get at the regular concession stand, but they only make so many per game, so get there early.

Urban Cannibals Bodega and Bites – offers their homemade burgers on Pure Knead’s gluten-free bread. They also offer sandwiches, my favorite is their Chicken Salad made with Springer Mountain Farms chicken and a whole lotta love.

YEAH! Burger – offers burgers on Pure Knead’s gluten-free buns and they also prepare gluten-free fries and onion rings in a dedicated fryer. They offer a monthly burger special that many times can be served gluten free when using one of Pure Knead’s buns.
Where do you enjoy noshing on a burger with a gluten-free bun?
