We’re Eating Our Way Through Athens, Ga This Weekend!

Dish Worth The Drive is back this weekend with our newest episode! We hit up Highlands, North Carolina, Orlando, Florida, and last but not least we drove down to Athens, Georgia for our very own G-Day…Grub Day! Our first road trip to Athens was a success, and we can’t wait for you to come along for the ride.

Tune in to CBS at 7:00 p.m. this Saturday, April 23rd for the best G-Day you’ve ever experienced. We’re tasting grub from Last Resort Grill, Seabear Oyster Bar, and Creature Comforts Brewery. In case you can’t wait a second more, here’s a little sneak peak of our favorite dishes…

Red & Black Cake (Last Resort)

The cake that trumps all…the Red & Black cake that is carefully and exquisitely crafted by Cecilia Villaveces Bakery and shipped down the street to Last Resort each and every day. The cake alternates layers of smooth red velvet and dark chocolate cakes with cream cheese icing filling between and chocolate fudge coating the outside. If you’re within an hour of Last Resort, you’re within a reasonable distance to get a slice (or whole cake) of Red & Black. Don’t believe us? Just tune in Saturday night for more food porn shots of this cake, and odds are you’ll be in your car driving there before the commercial break.

Oysters (Seabear Oyster Bar)

Seabear Oyster Bar is a community bar in Athens on Prince Avenue focusing on bringing some of the freshest raw seafood and shellfish to the town. It’s nearly impossible to visit Seabear without ordering at least a dozen oysters. Every day, Seabear is serving up a rotating selection of 6 to 8 different oysters, and they are an absolute must try! Join us at Seabear on CBS this Saturday as we try some of their oysters and of course, their house cocktail, a Negroni slushie!

Tropicália (Creature Comforts)

There’s a new summer beer staple and it is perfect for the summer! We stopped by Creature Comforts Brewery and learned about (and of course tasted) some of their best artisanal flavors. One of them- Tropicália- is the perfect balance of passion fruit and citrus with just a slight bitterness at the end. But, we don’t want to spoil it for you completely…come along with us to Creature Comforts this Saturday night on CBS for the complete inside scoop on this 13,000 square foot Athens brewery.

So, if you’re just as sad as we are that G-Day 2016 is over,  join us for our very own G-Day (GRUB Day) on CBS this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. We might not be the football experts, but we sure know how to get our grub on.
