What to Eat to Beat the Heat

Surviving summer in the south requires some strategy (try saying that 5 times fast…). At Atlanta Eats, our strategy is the most logical- cool off with ice cream, of course! Restaurants are stepping up to the plate with cool concoctions and upgraded favorites. We sacrificed our beach bodies to taste test flavors. You’re welcome. Here are our top contenders, try them and let us know if we should add more to our running list!

1. Joy Café

Joy Cafe started the summer with “100 Days of Ice Cream” and are debuting new ice cream sandwich flavor combos every day! One of our favorite days was when “Heath Bar” and “Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie” were served. Here is the photo evidence…

2. Sprinkles

Sprinkles Cupcakes is home to more than a portion controlled pastry. They have ice cream AND sorbet! Sorbet contains fruit; therefore is delicious, nutritious and you should try it!

 3. King of Pops

The greatest thing about King of Pops is that you can find them on just about every corner of Atlanta! And at Braves games! Their Georgia Peach flavor is so refreshing that we recommend you enjoy it outdoors…in a field…like we did right here…

 4. Vintage Frozen Custard

If you have ever been to an Atlanta food truck park of any kind, chances are you’ve seen the “Vintage” truck. You probably waited in line for longer than you’re willing to admit for their custard, but don’t be ashamed. We think their chocolate custard is more than worth the wait! Insider tip: try it on a homemade waffle next time!
