The Sun Dial Burger from The Sun Dial (Downtown)
For that “All-American” classic burger, our thoughts haven’t always automatically gone to Sun Dial. After this scenic lunch, it sure does. Their signature burger is simply topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo- it doesn’t need anything more. Grab a bite with a side of fries and enjoy the spring landscape at a whole new height!
Avocado Toast from Seabear Oyster Bar (Athens)
Seabear is a new kid on the Athens block, but it was quick to establish itself as the place to be on Prince Avenue. This coastal chic atmosphere serves food as pretty as their beachy inspirations. Seabear is known for its top-notch seafood (oysters especially), but don’t overlook their avocado toast. They put quite a spin on this trendy snack. Enhanced with the flavors of pickled peaches, sesame, chili flake and olive oil, you can grab a plate of this tasty toast for a price even a college student can afford- $5.
Red & Black Cake from Last Resort (Athens)
Last but not least is the cake that trumps all…the Red& Black cake that is carefully and exquisitely crafted by Cecilia Villaveces Bakery and shipped down the street to Last Resort each and every day. The cakes create a restaurant centerpiece- all lit in a display case for every diner to admire before they even take a seat. Back to the Red & Black cake- it’s alternating layers of smooth red velvet and dark chocolate cakes with cream cheese icing filling between and chocolate fudge coating the outside. If you’re within an hour of Last Resort, you’re within a reasonable distance to get a slice (or whole cake) of Red & Black.
